Olivia,
ReplyDeleteI believe you understood the goal of this assignment and executed it very well. You presented what the problem was for each news article and clearly defined who was being affected by that problem. I found the article about the Fight Against the Red Tide compelling. I hope that Sarasota is able to create a movement that positively impacts the regions shores and achieves its' goal for better beach environments.
I also believe that having the Sarasota Police Department take over staffing of the School Districts Resource Officers is a positive move. Hopefully, it will provide broader training for Resource Officers (RO) and equip the ROs to better serve the students and school community.
Best Regards,
Suzanna Pederson
Olivia, I like how your articles were actually local focused. It was hard for me to actually find things myself that pertain locally especially since I identify as being more big picture. I notice the environmental theme and I admire that you focus on this issue. I feel like being a more environmentally aware society is still something that we're working on.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the article on the police department taking over for the resource officers. I believe a lot of our issues in schools are that students really don’t know who to contact when there is emergency. The world has changed the view of the police and how they serve us, and because of that police are given a very bad rap for trying to keep and our schools safe. Really good article very good job.
